WildED
Action for Conservation’s (AFC) WildED secondary school programme supports students in delivering local environmental action projects that are relevant to them, increasing connection to nature and building soft skills and confidence. Each term their team works with multiple schools in their three regions (North West, South East and South West of England and Wales). A winning project is selected from each school and at the end of the programme the winners pitch their project alongside each other with one being crowned WildED Champions! AFC believes that working with schools is essential and that it’s especially important for students who may not necessarily have a prior interest in nature to get that opportunity. AFC works with students over a sustained period to empower, educate and support them in taking action through practical tasks that give them a sense of agency and inspire them to continue to take action beyond the programme.

Statement on the State of the World’s Trees report
WWF responds to the latest report by Botanic Gardens Conservation International which provides an eye-opening and comprehensive look into the state of trees across the globe, which tree species are most at risk and why.
“This research is a timely reminder of the peril facing the world’s trees and forests which, despite all the warning signs, we’re losing at an alarming rate,” says Fran Price, Lead, WWF Global Forest Practice.
The findings complement WWF’s own analysis of deforestation fronts, but they say there is still a lot that can be done to help protect and improve the world’s forests.

RSPB are looking for a project manager to coordinate and deliver their A Greener Thames project, a programme of landscape-scale restoration and enhancement across the Greater Thames Estuary.. Work with partner organisations, local communities, and stakeholders; manage and coordinate activities across the project in Kent; manage the project budget; ensure the design of works delivers the best outcomes for nature; support delivery of project elements in Essex, and more.
“Proven project management skills are a must for this role and a knowledge of land management for conservation, including an understanding of acquiring consents, the tender process and overseeing groundworks would be beneficial. Most importantly, you’ll be highly organised, adaptable and resilient with the energy to deliver transformational change for nature across the Greater Thames Estuary.”
