The 2021 Big Garden Bird Watch is happening again this year, and you can get involved from the 29th – 31st January. Spend an hour counting the birds you see in your garden or local park or nature area, and submit the results to RSPB.
There’s loads going on over the weekend, just sign up online to get your free guide, and information on bird identification, and feeding birds. And have a look at the links and information to take part in live online activities with experts from across the country who’ll be bringing you photos, footage, and quizzes!

Action for Conservation
Are currently recruiting for two roles: Programme Manager, South West England and Wales, and Programme Coordinator, North West England.
Based in Bristol, the Programme Manager position is an exciting opportunity to lead on and expand Action for Conservation’s core programmes, grow and mentor a regional delivery team, and support other areas of focus and engagement. This role includes working as a role model, educator, and mentor to young people, and requires strong and inspiring leadership within the organisation. Closes 24th January.
Based in Manchester, The Programme Coordinator position will lead on the delivery of Action for Conservation’s core programme’s in the North West of England, and support other emerging projects such as the Penpont project. This role also involves working with young people as an educator and mentor, helping them tackle environmental issues, develop their voices as changemakers, and transform the sector. Closes 17th January.

Solar for Schools
Are excited to announce their new app is not just under development but now in it’s testing phase. The app combines a project-based style, allowing users to have fun whilst learning.
Solar Options for Schools won funding in November 2020 from Innovate UK in the latest round of the £10 million Sustainable Innovation Fund. The fund is intended to help the UK rebuild after the effects of COVID-19.
The app is designed to give teachers an easily accessible platform to engage their students on environmental and sustainability education. It will be a zero-cost, time-efficient way for teachers to fit sustainability learning into curriculum time, encouraging self-learning through modern connectivity.
“By empowering students to become part of a wider community through this app, we can make a difference to solar learning throughout the UK. Project-based learning and knowledge to real-action strategies are at the forefront of its design, and it will be optimised to teach through the most modern and effective methods of the 21st century. Game-based learning will encourage secondary students to learn about the four E’s of sustainability: Energy, Electricity, Efficiency, and Environment.”
