WWT home learning hub
With another lockdown in full swing, we know how hard teachers are working to provide high-quality remote learning whilst retaining an element of fun. We hope that our home learning hub could be of help, having been designed to support both teachers and parents with key parts of the science and geography curriculum. Why not take a look and see whether you could incorporate some elements into your home learning schedule?
On the hub, you will find a full learning programme, covering all science and geography topics relating to nature and wildlife at KS1 and KS2. There is also a range of shorter fun activities and quizzes that can be dipped into at any time. These include our very popular ‘make it activities’ with simple instructional videos showing how to make everything from a mini pond to a water cycle in a jar!

The loudest voices in the UN Global Climate Poll have come from young people. To continue ensuring young people’s voices are heard MCS are providing resources, information, and guidance so that everyone can understand the issues facing the planet and how they can take action.

This online professional learning course for teachers, colleges, and schools will support you to think about, plan for, and implement, Learning for Equity and Sustainability. The course runs on the 5th March 2021 from 8:00 – 17:00, reserve your place online.

Higher Education Climate Action Toolkit Launched
The Climate Coalition for Higher and Further Education Students has launched their HE Climate Action Toolkit. The first of its kind, the Toolkit identifies HE-specific critical elements Vice-Chancellors and Governors should consider in order to advance sustainability and respond to the climate crisis. The aim of the toolkit is to:
- Prepare staff and students to cope, thrive and move responsibly in a changing world, for example equip students with employable skills
- Protect biodiversity
- Work toward climate and social justice
- Lower and eliminate scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions
SOS-UK
Global Goals Teach In
This annual campaign calls on educators to place the SDG’s within their teaching for two weeks, from the 22nd February, to the 5th March.
Teaching staff can pledge to take part. There is a wealth of resources available on the website to help plan fun and engaging classes that stimulate debate, case studies, discussion, and more.
The teach in aims to:
- Raise awareness of the importance of sustainable development
- Catalyse curriculum reform and test new ideas
- Embed sustainability and social responsibility across all learning
- Link teaching, learning, and assessment to local and global concerns
- Prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and attributes to tackle the world’s greatest challenges
